the big day~

In about 14 hours the bride and groom will be saying their "I do's".  I sure hope today goes better than yesterday ~ the weather has been against us.  Torn apart canopies, tipped over chairs, smashed flowers, falling down trees, tarped up benches and picnic tables trying to stay dry, power outages ...

Hello Jan H. ~ I hope you're having a great day!


Well...  I didn't want to do it; but had no other choice in the matter ...

Last night I'm laying in bed ~ trying to turn down the brain cells so I can get some sleep ... but all I can think about is the upcoming wedding.  Are we going to have enough food, drinks, room, good weather, blah blah blah ... all that stuff.


Then the Momzilla in me surfaced and showed her ugly face. 

I'm laying there thinking of all these things I have no control over, when it dawned on me that half my family has informed me that they are going to be "hopefully back in time" on Saturday, because they are going to Lake of The Torches Casino before the wedding service to go to the autograph signing of Sig Hansen.  Sig is the captain of the Northwestern ship from Deadliest Catch ~ the crab fisherman.  My family are huge fans of the show on the Discovery Channel.

So what's a Momma to do?  I got up out of bed and sent him an email: (copy below)



Dear Sig...
I hear you're going to be at the Lake of the Torches Casino in Lac Du Flambeau, WI this coming Saturday, August 14th for an autograph signing. BUT... there's a problem. That's the day of my daughter Sara's wedding and half of my family says they are coming to see you before the wedding starts!! It's a 45 minute drive one way from our house.

I LOVE YOU and all you do; BUT ... you're messing with Momzilla now! If they aren't home in time for the start of the wedding ~ heads are going to roll. The wedding starts at 4:00 p.m. and I'm not prepared to hear the excuses from them that they had to wait in line to get your autograph for four hours ... then do a little gambling ... blah blah blah ... you know what I mean?

I'm just so darn mad that I can't come with them to make sure that they get back in time ~ because being the mother of the bride I have obligations to attend to here. YOU have to reschedule!! Or come to the wedding after wards. That's all there's too it.

We're having a big backyard BBQ complete with a whole hog on the grill and lots of beer.

You just let me know how you're going to handle this.

I thought throwing in an invite and telling him we're having a pig roast and beer would be a nice touch. LOL  They always say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach ... and what kind of man is gonna turn down a roasted hog and ale?

H e l l o  Jan H.

 My sisters are coming ... we'll all be together for the kitchen chatter!! 

I just love it when we all get together and catch up with each other.  My sister from Texas will be here sometime today or early tomorrow ~ then my sister from Michigan will be showing up ... the one from across the river will be here and the one from Schnur's Lake will be here too... yippee!!  I love it when a wedding brings us together... much happier times than it being a funeral.

Also... my little niece Sloane ... she doesn't have a sister yet; but I'll have to have a little chat with her and tell her she needs to tell mommy and daddy she wants one.
