Monday

it's snowing ~

Yes ... that is snow coming down as I look out the window.  Old Man Winter is coming back for a visit to remind us that it's only April and he's done with Mother Nature and her teasing ways of taunting us with hopes of spring.

It's only in the 30's today ... the wind is blowing ... last night it was hailing and raining ... the power was off for a couple hours ... and it's SNOWING AGAIN!!! PLEASE ... like we haven't had enough of that already.

We have been spoiled this whole last month with such beautiful weather ... in the 60's and 70's ... the temps even reached the 80's a few times and now this again.  Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.

Time to do another indoor project ... that will become my outdoor project when this snow decides to leave for a few months ~ the fairy/gnome garden.

I cut some birch bark and wove it into little mats that I'll use for the patio's in the fairy garden :)

They would also make cute little trivets for under my houseplants.  I haven't decided yet for sure where they are going to end up.  I think I'll be making a few more :)

Poor Mr. Robin.
I bet he's wishing the weather was like it was 2 days ago too.
He's probably wondering to himself ...
"Stupid snow."
"What was my big rush to hurry up and get back Up North???"

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  3. Snowing on and off here too. I think there is an old saying...it needs to frost or snow so many times on the Robin before we can say Spring is really here.

  5. I'm just grateful the snow is melting as soon as it hits the ground...we can hope can't we?

  6. Sorry, Mel but that is the way of ol' mother nature. She has flung some surprises on all of us down here with tornadic outbursts all around us. After it warmed up here we had dogwoods in full bloom - then "Dogwood Winter" with it's accompanying frosts. Now Blackberry blooms will soon be in "full" - which means we will have Blackberry winter. Then - maybe - we'll stay warm until November. Loved your birchwood mats! You are a very creative person.

  7. We don't have snow, but are getting rain, with thunder and lightning added for effect. Yuck. AND, it's slowing down construction of my porte cochere. Double yuck!

  8. Mel, we need some of your moisture. Have not had a soaking snow or rain in months. It could become a problem when the heat settles in. In the meantime, people are putting in tomatoes two to three weeks early. I hope you get your nicer weather back soon.

  9. It's real cool here today for south Texas. I almost wished I had a sweater on at the ranch. Maybe this will be your last snow.

  13. Interested to see the garden when it comes to be. It's funny how opinions of weather are shaped by where we are - I would kill to have snow falling right now, but that's because here in Florida it has been in the 80's for weeks and I know that months of miserable heat are going to start any day now.
