breakfast anyone ~

Not much going on around here.

I have a batch of homemade oatmeal berry yogurt started.  You can read about making it  HERE.  I love it with blueberries; but any fruit is good.

I just got home from picking up eggs from one of our our 'egg ladies'.  One calls her business Dorothy's Happy Hens Farm.  Her eggs look like they came straight from an Easter basket ~ all the original colors.  Different breeds of chickens - different colored eggs.  Please ~ don't ask what color comes from what breed, because I honestly don't have the answer.  My other egg lady is my Mom when her chickens are in the laying mood.

I keep telling Slim I want to raise some chickens; but his answer to me is "what would Dorothy or your Mom do without you? You buy eggs from them every week."  True.  I buy a lot of eggs; but not just any old egg from the store ~ I buy QUALITY FRESH Free Range Eggs and there is absolutely no comparison in flavor from these eggs and those store bought ones.  My egg ladies love their chickens and the quality of eggs they lay prove it.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, as we'll be making homemade breakfast sausage links and bratwurst.  The following are 2 pics from last year:

Guess what's for breakfast?

Note : Whenever I go on to wordpress and try to leave a comment it doesn't go through.  This has been going on for a long time.  Also, many of my comments I leave on blogspot haven't been going through.  I'm TRYING to get this worked out.

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  1. have you tried switching your internet 'vehicle' - i.e. if you're using internet explorer, try using google chrome or firefox, etc.

    good luck!

  2. I thought you had Google works for far.
    Sausage day huh? yum

  3. RE: Dar & TexWis ~ I'm using Firefox but since I started using Eric's pc some of the things I used before just don't seem to work the same. I'll get it figured out soon, I hope:)

  4. Yum, your breakfast foodies sound scrumptious. Making your own sausages and bratwurst is amazing. Well done. :)

The internet can be a frustrating place sometimes when all the features offered on websites won't work efficiently.
You're welcome to drop by my blog anytime. When you're able too comment and say 'Howdy', I'll be happier than a butterfly in a flower garden. :)

  5. Oh, I well remember the taste of a Fresh egg!! No comparison to store bought.
Have fun making all that sausage Girl!!

  6. I miss my egg lady. I'm sure she'll have a couple of dozen ready when we get back. I can't wait to see those orange yolks again. City Slicker, daughter didn't realize the carton exchange thing, and threw 2 dozen eggs away because she thought they were outdated!!!

  7. Sausage lookin' good. My daughter's boyfriend just completed his 33rd annual deer sauasage making week-end. This is her second year helping the gang.

  8. I remember you posting that yoghurt recipe before and being intrigued. So this time I am going to try it.

I try and only buy the local farm eggs. Once in a very blue moon I've been forced into store bought eggs and then I only use them for baking. Love all the colours. One of my suppliers has a mix like that too.

  9. that yogurt sounds good, and your sausage is beautiful, ( can sausage be beautiful), lol its so nice to meet you!

  10. I LOVE "home grown" eggs!! So hard to come by.

    You are sure the worker!!

  11. Hey I made it today, it has been a couple days nothing would let me in to your BLOG. I kept telling the sucker I have followed this lady a VERY long time on the net. It didn't care.
The sausage looks good and a lot of work.
At the flea mkt Don & I passed the old met grinders like mama used to fasten on the table. I remember her letting me turn the handle some. OF course she never made this much!!!!~
You guys sure put the work into your lives.
    Good to get back here.
    Lvoe you girl!! (((HUGS)))

  12. And I meant to say the eggs are beautiful........

  13. Girl, you have the longest breakfast hour ever...I need to remember to make that oatmeal yogurt does sound good and healthy.

  14. I've never had a fresh egg! They are too beautiful to eat! How interesting that different breeds lay different colors. Fascinating!
