Friday

done ~

Dear Hubby announced this morning after we hauled in 2 more loads of winter's firewood ~ "we're done" ~  YAY!!!

The wood shed is full.
We put up over 30 cords!
A cord is measured 8 feet long by 4 feet high by 4 feet deep

Maybe now we can take a break and enjoy this beautiful fall weather that we've been blessed with.  The colors right now of the trees are gorgeous.

So were these plums ... such a vibrant color ...

I turned them into 10 half pint jars of Sweet Sour Asian Dipping Sauce for egg rolls or for on top of pork chops, etc...

This morning I also whipped up an Apple Kuchen ~

The sweet dough I'm using for the kuchen crust has a package of vanilla pudding mixed in.  Yum.

DH just informed me that we're having company for supper.  Gotta go and find some fish.  It's going to be a Friday night fish fry@mel's diner!  Alas, the dessert is already made.

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  1. Mel, You are some hard working people. We burn wood also. But no entirely. But it sure helps to keep our fuel bills down. So I know that stack of wood is a huge job. Love your pretty tree pictures. Blessings to you and your hubby. xoxo,Susie

  2. Even for us Half city slickers,we know that much wood is a LOT of work. The red sauce looks delicious.. Glad you all have that wood cut and stacked, That much wood would take care of a southern house for 5-10 years....
Now that dessert is what I call some kind of good looking sweets..
Love to y'all from South Carolina.

  6. Glad to hear that the firewood is done, now I can come for a visit and not be put to work right away. Your plum sauce looks amazing. Can I put in my order now for some homemade egg rolls with plum sauce when I come home? Don't worry I will cook for you too. I love you and miss you. Hope to see you in a few weeks!!!

  7. Nothing like a beautifully stacked rack of wood to make my heart sing. Let's hope 30 cords will be enough for the winter - folks everywhere say this winter will be just as harsh as last year, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed it wont be. Would you pass on your reicpes for the Kuchen and the plum Sweet Sour Asian Dipping Sauce? They both look delicious and I've got tons of both fruits awaiting a new recipe :)
