stuck in nd~

I spent a restless night last night ... but not half as restless as what I'm sure it was for my daughter and her hubby ...  who were stuck in the middle of nowhere, North Dakota, stuck in a 6 foot snow drift waiting it out for 15 hours before they were rescued this morning.  They did have enough gas in the vehicle to hold them over, and some snacks, and were in contact with the state patrol.  Problem was, the roads were snow covered, drifting shut and it was a white out blizzard and all the roads were closed.  It took that long for the plows to reach them.  Today, they are staying in a hotel and hopefully, weather permitting, will resume their trip home from Montana tomorrow.

At least I know where my daughter is.

Oh ... it is just so sad to think of those poor people and what they are dealing with in Japan after the earth quake and tsunami.  Every time I turn on the news or weather channel and hear the updates it's just heart wrenching.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  1. Oh dear. I AM sorry for your daughter's troubles, but glad she and her hubby are safe and warm now. You're so right. By comparison to what some families are dealing with in Japan, your situation was controlled and communicative. God bless everyone affected by this tragedy...

  2. Wow, so glad the folks in Dakota are okay. I can see where that would give you cause to worry.
Strange, on a forum I take part in one of the folks had friends who were stranded in ND. I haven't heard back from him.

Yes we all can breathe a prayer for the tragedy in Japan.

    Love ya.

  3. Mel, so glad to hear that your children survived and are were resting and re-couping in a hotel. Praying for a safe return back home for them. And my prayers going up for the people who have lost everything in Japan and other areas affected by the horible earth-quake. It's truly shocking.

  6. So glad your daughter and her husband are safe. How fortunate they had enough gas and were able to contact the highway patrol.
The peoples of Japan are in my heart and prayers.

  7. Those dang kids keep us praying overtime even when they are so-called adults! I guess it's true, they still need their mothers! Glad all turned out alright. Prayers continue for those effected by the earthquake. Having gone through a 7.3 in Alaska my heart aches for them.

  8. Oh, my goodness! I'm coming in here a couple of days late, but I am sooo glad that your daughter and son-in-law are OK. How terrifying it must be to be marooned in a blizzard.

The situation in Japan is truly terrible. I continue to hold in my prayers all those affected, and those that search for the living and the dead and minister to the living.
