family gathering~

We had the most wonderful afternoon yesterday ~ the family on Dear Hubby's side (his mothers side) got together to celebrate his cousin Paula's husband's graduation on becoming a nurse anesthesiologist.  Brian can now put me under but he said he doesn't guarantee bringing me back!  Way to go Brian ... we're very proud of your accomplishment!! Let's just pray I never need your services. LOL

It was such a nice day ... seeing family and friends that we haven't touched base with for awhile.  Hearing stories from Aunt Cookie and Uncle Fred about their latest trip to Ireland, watching Bailey and Lily shoot pool, seeing how much the "little" cousins have grown into young adults with children of their own.

Only thing missing was my camera :(

We also have another family reunion coming up on Dear Hubby's side of the family the end of July.  This time it will be with the family on his Dad's side.

Both of Slim's parents have passed away years ago and he only has the one Aunt left on his Mom's side and one Aunt on his Dad's side.  His grandparents too are gone.  So these family gatherings mean a LOT to him.  It's just him and his 3 brothers left.

I, on the other hand ~ have family up the kazooooooo! But; that doesn't mean we get to see each other all the time ~ nor do we get together like we used to.  Family time is important - no matter how big or small it is.

I want a family reunion on my side:)

Friends may come and friends may go; but family is forever.

Have you hugged your family today and told them how much they mean to you?

{{HUGS & LOVE}}

Until next time...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  1. Aawwww mel you are so right. And the older we get the more important family seems to be. We seldom get together, but when we do it is such a joy to catch up.

Seems graduation time all round from HS to College. Nice of Brian to agree to put you under, and for some reason I think he would find a way to bring you back around, He sees the size of Slim the Slammer!!!!

Take care and enjoy all the memories you all are making.
Love from down here where it is nice in the mountains.

  2. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time, and made lots of great memories. A wonderful thing about summer; it seems to be the season for gathering family together and re-uniting.
    Have a great day !

  5. I always love the times our family gets together. There's just nothing that can match it for socializing pleasure. Hope your side of the family has another one soon.

  7. My Dear Sis, And here I thought the saying was "cows may come and cows may go ~ but the bull around here goes on forever!" I guess that still would be a fit saying for one of our family reunions! So just let us know when and we'll be there.

  8. Hi Mel, sounds like a good time was had by all. I wish I had at least one of my sisters or brothers left. We had a big family and always had time for the fun times. There should be a decision made on my son Who is injured. They are thinking surgery to reatattch muscle to bone. or otherwise therapu. I don't see how therapy would help , with out the surgery first. His wife has to drive hin to his appointments because it is to painful. I am ready to go out and pull weeds but need to wait a few days.
