Bailey and I had to take a four wheeler ride over to Mom's this morning to see the baby chicks. My brother's girl friend picked them up at an auction and somehow they ended up at my Mom's place. That's okay... gives Mom something to do. She has them set up under a heat lamp in her laundry room until the weather warms up and they can go outside.
Bailey wanted in the worse way to hold one ... but just couldn't bring herself to do it. She didn't want to touch their legs. Silly girl... so... Great Grandma had to hold them for her. She was especially interested in the little blue one.

Sam got his bear mount back from the taxidermist yesterday... and it is now hanging on my wall. I really can't wait until he has his own place to hang it ... but until then... it's hanging on the wall going down my basement stairway.
These pictures of it really don't show it's size ... this thing is huge! It was about 10 feet away from him and charging when he shot it last fall during hunting season.
Until next time...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

I'm glad that bear is going to the basement and not in another hall. I can picture a guest at your house stumbling down the hall toward the bathroom in the middle of the night and encountering that! LOL! Oh my!
ReplyDeleteI was talking to Mom on the phone and as she was telling me about her new "chicks" I was checking your blog and there they were! She laughed when I said I was looking at them. And holy kerzinga's that bear is huge!
ReplyDeleteAh ha! a beautiful action mount. I do like the way taxidermists have graduated over the years to life like mounts. However, Lynilu is right, what a shocker roaming down the hall at 2 AM. Talking about missing the potty!!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh yes, and I remember the chicks at Easter. I loved them. Wjen I was little I wondered why they didn't grow up pink and blue!
I have a movie with our son Mark chasing his, and dragging his easter coat behind him. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks.
Love from NC,

What a nice bear mount. I'm hoping the nail it's hanging on, doesn't give out while you're bringing canned goods up the stairs.
ReplyDeleteCool chicks!
Long day,
Bless Ya
Oh. My. Goodness! Charging at him? SO glad that Sam killed this bear! It is beautiful...but HUGE.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want that bear in my house LOL. Helen
ReplyDeleteHey Mel, congrats on getting your house back, lol
ReplyDeleteAwww, sweet. I love baby chicks. And you got a blue one too. I didn't know they allowed that now-a-days. We used to buy the entire rainbow of colors for Easter, they were so pretty and sweet... and being country folks, we'd raise them up to frying size and well you know the drill... lol
ReplyDeleteGosh, that's a pretty bear mount. I'm glad Sam got him before he got Sam. I cannot imagine facing a huge charging beast like that... I'd be so scared, I'd aim and miss and well... I would just be bear fodder... ;)
Way to go Sam!!!
:)
