finally... spring has sprung! ~

It takes a while for spring to reach us here in the north woods ~ but it is finally showing it's face!
the daffodils are blooming ... the rhubarb is up ...  the miniature irises are in full bloom ...
The sedums are poking through the ground ...
and showing that they survived yet another long cold winter in the hypertufa pots ...  I was happy to see that my hypertufa pots survived the cold.  I didn't know if they would crack on me and be a crumbled mess ... I might have to make some more of those.

My white lilac bush is bursting onto the scene.  It is just loaded with buds this year :)

Even the hosta and the chives are happy spring has finally sprung in the north woods!
I just love this time of year when everything is coming out of it's long winter nap.  I know most of the country is already into FULL BLOOM of spring ~ it just takes us a little bit longer to catch up.

We even have the boat out of winter storage and under the car port canopy for the summer.  Now I really know winter is gone for awhile!
Now just to get it out on to a lake!!

Until next time...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  1. Don't ya just Love it? Spring is a coming, yippee!!!

  2. Spring??? I'm so hoping so, but our temps are dropping to the LOW 20's tonight. Brrr... One more month of frosty nights around here.

  3. Great pictures. I try to remember the Flora names, but cannot. I just know they are pretty for the folks who can grow them. YOu seem to have the GREEN thumb. My mama had one Sherry's mama had one, but we are pretty good at killing things. OR growing Ivy.

Ahhhhhh, yes Spring. It has been a little chilly here and windy, but it is still Spring.

Have a great week watching all that stuff GROW!
Love from NC, Sherry & Jack
    Hope you are Feeling well!

  4. Mel,
Thanks for the comment you left on my blog. I had to hop on over here. Glad I did! Love all of the nature photos you have! Beautiful!

  5. I can almost taste the chives from here -
I'm guessing the flowers smell as good
    as they look.
Sorry I didn't get that pic sent to you yet
of my purple iris's - but I still have to take
it! I know, I'm bad. My yellow something or
other is coming up too! Maybe I'll send you
    of those too.
I only have a few honeysuckle blooming,
but they smell great. I hope they keep coming.
    Later ya-me

  6. Pretty Spring flowers Mel. A little different from ours, but really nice.

  7. Mel, thanks for sharing the pictures of your signs of spring! They are beautiful. We noticed Saturday when we were at my father-in-law's that the rhubarb out there is coming up.

Did you make the pots? They are really cool looking.

Great to see a post from you. Hope you are feeling okay right now.

  8. Hi Mel, thanks for stopping by on my blog. I got a chuckle out of the remarks you made on Jacks blog, and like you had to come back with something. My husband is the one with the serious heart problems but is doing very well. As for me I go in to family Dr. for a sore throat and get sent to a heart Dr. Aside from being really tired I had no idea my heart was out of whack. Now impossible to get a call back without prying it out of them. Love your flowers.
