Thursday

jammin'~

Time to jam.  I put on the classic vinyl 70's rock and roll ... and washed up the jelly jars!

Remember all those berries Dear Hubby and I picked last summer ...

the blueberries as big as quarters ~

and the raspberries ... so sweet and fragrant ~

and those beautiful strawberries ~

and let's not forget ...

the apples from our tree ~

Yesterday was the day of transformation:

blueberries ~ in the big ol' kettle with some sugar and pectin ...

strawberries too ~ so pretty how they glisten ...

and the apples ~

and raspberries ...

After a few hours of listening to music and playing with the fruits ...

Wahlah!   52 jars of jam

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  3. I am privileged, we have tasted this stuff and it is great! You are a master of jammin'!!!!!

As a matter of fact we have been saving one last table spoon full of the 'Mixed Berry' until a few weeks ago.

The Apple did not last long at all!!!!

Love you and thanks for the great memories. I just put the little limb rack you brought them in in the basement.

Thanks again. Stay WARM. and keep Jammin'.

  7. Wow, 52 jars of jam! I'm lucky to eat a couple jars a year. I mostly use jam on scones. I don't make scones too often because they are just too good. Sigh.

Now if only I could muster up some of your energy ....

I think canned goods are so pretty lined up on a shelf. I bought a canner last summer. I have yet to try it out. I have big hopes for this comming fall. Blessings!

  14. Your jams look so yummy Mel. I love homemade jams and jellies. We just don't eat enough to make it worthwhile but when I was a girl, our family did lots of canning and I remember picking blackberries by the bushel!

  15. Oh, my goodness what a worker. Does take me back to the days when we had to fill the cellar with all kinds of bottled food to get our family of seven through the winter. We also fed hired men, too! But we did not have electricity so therefore no freezers, so the work was back breaking at times. (when I got chronic fatigue). You still manage to find an unbelievable amount of work to do in your northern neck of the woods. I decided never to bottle again and I never did! I figured I did my share. But I appreciate a hard worker when I run into one, and you are it!
