picking strawberries ~

Do you have a childhood memory of picking strawberries?  When I was a kid, many moons ago, my memories of picking berries were mainly grabbing a cup out of the cupboard and heading down the driveway and going along the old highway picking wild strawberries along the ditch line.  It took quite a while to fill my little cup with the wild berries.

Fortunately, for my daughter and her daughters ... they get to head out to the patch on the edge of the garden to fill their container... and it doesn't take hours to fill.  Here's what they had picked in about 10 minutes time.

Staci has a beautiful little patch of ever-bearing strawberries that keeps them in berries all summer long right up until it freezes in the fall.  That makes this little berry picker very happy!

Until next time ...
So it goes in my neck of the woods.

  4. Oh those strawberries look unbelievably good. That little girl does not know how lucky she is to be able to go out in the garden and pick some. A neighbor of ours in Salt Gulch had lots of rasberry bushes, and were they wonderful.

  5. Now that is a lot of berries. I do remember berry safaries as a child with a pie or sweet berries over ice cream as a reward.
    What a cutie berry picker.

I used to grow strawberries many years ago. I remember picking them in the early mornings so the kids could have fresh strawberries for breakfast....

  12. Yes, we had church members who had a strawberry patch in middle Tennessee. Wonderful memories of that time when I was 11 - 13 years old. You two are making fine memories for your grandloves.
