  1. Hi Mel, I'm a Happy Camper... I've heard from both you and Dar today!!!!! Yeah!!!!

Suicide awareness is so important --even today. George had a little brother who committed suicide when he was a teen ---and it about broke George's parents heart, as you can imagine. There was no indication that this might happen. Back then (1970 or 71), several teens just decided to do it for the heck of it... Stupid!

There were 4 children in George's family. He was the oldest, then Ken--2 yrs. younger, then Janet--8 yrs after that. and Jimmy, 2 yrs. later. So--Jimmy was 12 yrs. younger than George. George was married and gone when Jimmy died. Sad occasion.

    Great walk your community did!!!!
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. Good to hear you had a good turn out for the walk. It was such a wet dreary day over here I was wondering how your walk would go and if it was raining there too.

  3. It's days like this that I wish I lived closer to your neck of the woods. I would've walked with you all. I lost a loved one to suicide when I was a teenager. I've never recovered from it. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him and wish he was still alive.

I applaud you Mel. You're a wonderful lady with a wonderful family to have such a helpful tribute in honor of JD. Hugs to you all.

    Wishing you the best always!

  4. A very good cause. Most families have been touched by suicide either up close and personal or at a distance. Either way, folks are hurt to the quick for years, especailly if it is a youth.

Love you lady, keep up the good work.
